Good News for Wine Lovers

Happy 2023!

We’ve been taking some time off to travel this winter. Now we’re back, full of energy and ideas, busy preparing for a fun new season. At this stage, I’m very excited to share some good news: we’re offering our first packages which will be a particular delight for wine lovers in 2023.

You may already know that I am passionate about food and wine myself, and have totally fallen in love with our region’s wonderful wines. So of course I want to share that happiness with everyone else!

The idea of offering complete experiences to our Guests was actually included in our original plans, long before opening Palazzo Florio in 2020. Needless to say, the first two years came with some “unpredicted global challenges” which slowed us down a little bit… But I never abandoned the idea, on the contrary.

Last year, we ran some small-scale experiments, with enthusiastic feedback. So now it’s time to move forward and launch the first two packages:

1. The Wine Lovers’ Experience 2023

If you, too, are passionate about food & wine and would like to discover some Abruzzo specialities, this experience is for you. The basic package is available from April to early October 2023, perfect for a weekend break.

You’ll kick off the visit with a welcome aperitivo. During the two days you’ll visit two of our favorite local wineries, for example Fontefico, and taste their wonderful wines. Your Abruzzo visit would not be complete without a dinner featuring “arrosticini”, meat skewers which are our region’s most famous dish.

Your stay at Palazzo Florio of course includes our fabulous breakfast, plus a gift bottle of wine in your room.

And, if you’d like to extend the visit beyond two days, we’d be delighted to propose a longer package tailored to your taste. You could, for instance, add more winery visits, attend a cooking class, take a guided e-bike tour on the coast or dine at a Trabocco restaurant.

2. Vendemmia - the Harvesting Experience 2023

September is my favorite month in Vasto, because the weather is still summer-like but no longer so hot - and also because it’s time for “vendemmia! If you’d like to get your hands (and maybe feet, too) dirty at the grape harvest, read on.

Taking part in harvesting at the Fontefico winery is the highlight of your visit, featuring grape picking, harvest brunch and wine tasting. You will also get a taste of succulent hand-cut arrosticini in the evening.

And, as mentioned above, if two days and nights is too short for you, just ask and we’ll suggest some additional experiences for your vacation.
